yay flowers!!

I'm really excited, I spoke with a florist down in San Diego today and she can do all of our flowers for close to our budget - now I've just got to convince my mum!

They're really strongly influenced by Saipua and a wedding I saw on one of the blogs I frequent (I can't remember which!) I'm so excited for the possibility of getting the actual flowers I want within our budget, since everyone else has been giving me options for the wrong kinds of flowers or totally outside the budget for the right kinds.

I'll post the details when I get them ;)

TGIF as usual! Extra specially so since next week is Thanksgiving. I feel like this year is speeding by now that it's getting near the end! We get to go look at houses tomorrow and I'm hoping, finally, the new one that I really like that's well below our budget!

I found these really cool paper crafts that would make gooooorgeous wedding/holiday/any day decorations. How often is it that you find decorations that are beautiful enough for celebratory events, but classic enough to look beautiful and not overdone in every day living?

The piece on the left is by Homemade Circus, who makes these beautiful, folk art, papier mache pieces d'art. These would be a great cake topper (or tree topper!) I love the little birds and I love circus/amusement park themed things, so these really make me smile.

On the right is a fantastic paper butterfly wreath by Royal Buffet, made of recycled paper. I love the blue, but she can make other colours if requested! I love that they're delicate, but sturdy, and I love that she's reusing. She also makes stunning mobiles and garlands.

ECSTATIC!

I am so happy!!! Pumpkin Plaid has totally made my day, she purchased my very first jewelry sales. Yes, you heard me, sales! Yay! This totally made my day. I love these pieces and I'm happy to see them go to a new home!

I've been busy making stuff too, and I wanted to show you the new flowers I've been experimenting with! I'm not sure if I'll be listing these or not, but I love how it turned out.










It's been super foggy in the mornings around my house. This pic doesn't quite do it justice, but jeez, it's almost as foggy as San Francisco! (and I know what I speak of, having lived there for years!)

I finally got my moo cards!! They're soooo cute! tinier than I thought they'd be, but eek! SO CUTE!
Today is a busy day - I get to go over the wedding flowers with my potential florist (yay!) and go to a laser tag birthday party (yes, for grownups - pew pew!)

Item of the day
I ran across these soaps today, and I'm not usually a huge soap person but these things are so neat! They look like gems but they're SOAP!? crazy cool! They're unbelievably realistic. I would never guess that those are for washing! Amethyst Soaps also have lovely carved soaps in all different shapes and colours. They'd make a good gift I imagine!

WoW has got me once again!

In other news, I commissioned (not sure if that's the right word) my cake toppers from berrysprite! She makes the sweetest little amigurumi, plus she's a total sweetheart! I'll upload pics when I'm done - in the meantime, she has our item of the day too! She makes adorable flower amigurumi's! Aren't they just squeezably cute!? Did you ever dream about sifting treasure through your bare hands when you were a kid? I think a lot of us 80's babies did because of Goonies. That's how I feel when I get a package; like it's some sort of treasure for me to open. I recently ordered a few fabric samplers so that I can try my hand at making hair flowers or boutonnières for the wedding.

I redid the design for the RSVP's and wedding invites yesterday based on a design from my shoes, and I'm really happy with it! It looks a lot cleaner than the old design.









Flower item of the day!
I am obsessed with flowers right now because we're picking out the florist for the wedding. I LOVE Hadley Hutton's shop. It's got these absolutely gorgeous, sort of Asian, pretty girly prints. The colours are perfect though. Like strawberries with chocolate, a perfect romantic mix.

I had a huuuuuge influx of viewers this weekend - I hope they come back again!

I spent almost all day Sunday and Saturday working on my homework - it came out pretty well I think. If I can figure out where to host a PDF I'll show you :) We had to make a newsletter in InDesign, and I decided to do one on budget weddings, since it's a topic I'm familiar with. I decided to go with a florist for the wedding, too, since it's just one less thing to worry about. Unfortunately, I am a flower fanatic. I love Saipua's flowers with a serious passion, but they don't quite fit into the budget I was hoping for...I've also been thinking of overhauling the invitation design, and I'm thinking about separating my wedding stuff into a separate shop, since I'd like to create hair flowers, invitations designs and other more focused items.

I also had a blast this weekend playing with http://www.dailymakeover.com/. It's so much fun making yourself look silly! I kept a few where I have a big fro, and one with Paris Hilton's hair. Apparently it makes me look like a bimbo ;)

I've always loved chemistry - TheOriginalSoapDish's shop looks like the best parts of chemistry! All sorts of fun and lovely smelling ingredients to mix into lovely soaps and skin products. I bet this shop smells like heaven!
